Bases are made from structural
U-channel steel, powdercoated for rust resistance. The inverted
U-shaped steel (only 1/2" tall and 2" wide*) is superior to flat
steel or aluminum bar, which can easily bend and twist. It also has a
high stability-to-weight ratio.
The space beneath the running surface
is where we fit our connectors, which are made from steel bar, 2
screws per connector. With rigid connectors (included), a set of six 2x2's is
almost as sturdy as a single 12-pole set ... and affordable to
ship! With hinged connectors (optional), you can fold the attached units completely flat, or you can prop them up using our T-Tails.
The space beneath the running surface
can also be used to attach extra weights. With 2 screws per
weight, it's easy to fine-tune sets for stability or portability.
Even without added weight, our sets tend to stay put, because the
'rails' of the U-channel bar concentrate the full weight of the set
onto the ground. We recommend weighted options for NADAC and other
venues where securing to the ground is prohibited or impractical.
Poles are made from furniture-grade,
UV-stabilized PVC pipe. By contrast, plumbing-grade PVC ages
faster, becomes brittle and will shatter more easily.
*AKC allows up to 3/4" height and
3-1/2" width
Safe for dogs and humans!
Careful, consistent and quality-controlled fabrication ensures that all sets are free of rough edges. Bases are finished with a non-skid additive that's part of the
powdercoat protection itself.
The top of the steel running surface
is completely flat, except for the slim-profile rounded tops of button-head screws for (optional) connectors and weights.
PVC poles rest around the
support posts. We don't use cups to hold the
poles, because cups collect dirt and moisture, and poles are sometimes
difficult to remove.
24" pole spacing is standard. Other
spacings are available.
Plastic plugs are included for any
unused stake or weight holes.
Some users may prefer our
heat-shrink tubing (instead of tape) for PVC poles. Tape
eventually dries up and unravels, and may catch longer coats or
scratch your dogs' eyes.
Compliant, modular, versatile,
unique!
AKC, USDAA, NADAC, AAC, UKI, FCI, IFCS,
UKC, CPE, TDAA, ASCA etc. - our weaves meet or exceed equipment
specifications! [Please check current and future specifications for the venues in which you plan to compete.]
All Competition and Training
sets use the same structural U-channel steel bar for the main part of
the base. All sets use the same connectors, weights, hardware and
poles. See our Basic Training Combo for an affordable way to
interconnect different products.
You don't have to buy one set for this
and one set for that. For weaves that will support you and your dog
through all phases of training and competition, let us
help you choose the right options for your needs. With our
all-inclusive design approach, it may be easier than you think!
2x2's are simply 2-pole units of our
Competition sets (also available in 3-pole units). Put them
together with our rigid connectors, and you've got a
regulation set strong enough for the heaviest duty trial use.
With our multi-purpose Training
sets, ALL-WAYS WeavesTM, you can use the same set from
the earliest days of Channel method (or Weave-A-Matic method, with
angled poles ... or both) all the way to a set that's compliant with
regulation use. Each slider (sliding pole support) is independently and infinitely adjustable.
ALL-WAYS WeavesTM:
DON'T have two separate
bases (one for odd-numbered poles, another for
even-numbered poles), making footing unnatural and awkward;
DON'T require you to
unscrew pole supports, move them to arbitrary, pre-determined
widths and then re-attach them;
DON'T have crossbars that
slide across the main axis and end up of the wrong side when poles
are inline;
DO appear similar to
Competition sets from the first day of training until they're
inline;
HAVE BEEN APPROVED by AKC
reps and used in official AKC trails!
ALL-WAYS WeavesTM are
protected by U.S. Patent #7,819,085. Other patents are pending.
If you prefer Traditional WAMs,
we've got those too!
Whatever you want in weave poles,
we've probably got it! Custom-designed setsare
also available. At Way To Weave, it's truly "Your weaves, your
way!"
Reminder: AKC regs have changed!
As of January 1, 2012, it's 24" spacing ONLY! All clubs hosting
AKC agility trials will now be required to use 24"-spaced weaves.
