Channel method refers to the 'channel' or 'chute' that's created when poles are offset to left and right. Our ALL-WAYS Weaves are the perfect way to create channels of all widths, with independent motion of each slider. Using either STD or WAM sliders, you can start your dog with a wide channel so they get the idea of running down the centerline. As you start closing the channel, your dog will begin to assimilate the weaving motion.
For dogs that are already weaving, but slowly, it often helps to widen the channel again, just slightly, until they achieve a speedier performance.
Although you can simulate the pole arrangement of channel method using 2x2 units, it sometimes doesn't work quite the same way, especially with dogs who pay close attention to the base. With our patented channel sets, the centerline is straight throughout the entire training process. And when our channel sets are configured with poles inline and secured vertically, they meet equipment specs for all major agility organizations!
